Tong-Il Moo-Do
Originally, martial arts were studied as a means of spiritual and physical development by Buddhist monks in the monasteries. It is therefore quite appropriate that in this secular and mechanistic age, a new concept in martial arts - Tong Il Moo Do, a unified martial art - has been initiated to emphatically revive the spiritual dimension of these arts.
Tong Il Moo Do is a practical means of unarmed self-defense against any kind of assault. But more importantly, it is a way of building sound character enlightening one's mind and spirit. It emphasizes courteous and humble attitudes, while building a strong and courageous character that will fight against injustice and unrighteousness with determination. Thus, it is an effective instrument for teaching discipline and self-control to young people, and for cleaning up many Current social problems.
The main purpose of Tong-Il Moo-Do is to help trainees, centering on true love, to realize the three fundamental goals of life through martial arts training. The first is becoming a person of mature character who learns self-control through mind-body unity and develops the capacity to love. The second goal is establishing a happy and healthy family and experiencing the ethical and loving relationships that result from family life. The third goal is using our creative abilities to make a positive contribution to society. Fulfilling these three life goals are accomplished by adopting a life of service to others, eventually building a truly peaceful world.
